Which Court has the Appellate Authority?
The laws give you the right to get a review of a legal decision from a higher court. Which court has the jurisdiction to handle the appellate procedure? Florida has a three-tier system of courts. The first filing of a case is done at the circuit courts. Usually, these courts do have some appellate authority – over decisions taken at lower tribunals or administrative agencies. The Florida District Courts of Appeal are the ones that handle most of these cases. Each of the District Court has specific jurisdiction. Your Florida appellate attorney can help you understand which of these courts would review your appeal. In certain appellate cases, the Florida Supreme Court also takes up the task of reviewing a lower court’s decision.
